Meditation & Me

Before I write something, I would request all spiritual gurus including God to forgive me for daring to write on this topic. I may be wrong in so many points or may be wrong in choosing correct words but all the views and opinions are my personal.

I chose to write on this topic because I think we do not need so much of outside information and research to write about it. Your inner thoughts and past lifeexperiences are the best source of information to write about this topic.

Most important thing I would say is Meditation or Yog or Dhyaan is not an exercise to meet God or to reach heaven. For me, even the existence of God is questionable. And I do not believe in Heaven and Hell or the re-birth of human being. According to me God is a power or energy which runs this world. It is beyond our reach and seems mysterious to me. Whatever that mysterious power or energy is, let’s call it God.

I believe in Karma and the meditation helps to follow it efficiently. It makes us more focused and to channelize our energy (whatever the direction is). In easier words, it is like deleting temporary files from your system to run it more efficiently.

Pooja Vs Yog: I was born in a Hindu family that is why I am calling it pooja and I am  going to refer to it in that context only. I do not know much about other religions and their rituals. But in Hinduism, whatever I have seen or learned about Pooja is, it is all about praising God and asking for his help. We go to temples, to praise God and to ask something for us in return. Whether it is Shiv Chalisa or Hanumaan Chalisa or Laxmi Aarti they all talk about great things about that particular God and are to make God happy. We chant shlokas to make our God happy so that we can ask for favours.

In Yog or Meditation, you do not need to praise God. You just have to stay calm and look inside you. In meditation we try to reach the absolute thoughtless state of mind. And this state of mind is called bliss. We are connected to this world through our thoughts, when you don’t have any thought in your mind you are with God. Thoughts are the medium through which we are connected to the world. Whatever we feel through our senses then becomes the world we live in. An unknown person at  an unknown place doing something unknown is not your world, you are related to him with the word ‘unknown’ only.

In Hindi it is called Yog, it means to connect yourself with God. And you connect with God when you disconnect yourself to this world.

Scientifically you can say, it is like completely shutting down your mind and giving it a complete rest.

Bliss: Bliss is a state of mind where you are connected to God. When your mind is absolutely thoughtless. I call it heaven also, because God resides here or you find your God here. Bliss can be achieved through continuous practice. There are so many methods are suggested by different people but ultimate aim is to achieve Bliss. I do not want emphasise much on process.

How it helps in real life:As I have mentioned it earlier, it helps us in channelizing our energy and to stay focussed. In the process of achieving Bliss, you learn to control your thoughts and to keep track of them. Normally there are so many thoughts keep floating in our mind at any point of time. Like; you are thinking about last night party while preparing a quarterly report in office. Through meditation you can control your thoughts and can stay focussed.

Some moments of Bliss in our daily life:In our daily life also we can experience some moments of bliss, but these moments cannot be controlled. These moments come for a fraction of second and your mind stops working on that very moment. Like; when you sneeze or you experience a free fall, or you puke with full force or when you reach to ultimate climax while having sex.

At the end, again I would like to say the above statements or the definitions are completely my opinion and are based on my personal experiences.

Warm Up

The very first thing I would like to say is ‘Thank you Bunny’. She is the one who fixed my Blog, suggested a name for it and encouraged me forthis post. In short, she set up everything so that I can continue writing. Otherwise, my laziness kept me away from doing such things.

Well, I was kind of busy these days, partially with my new work which I have started recently and partially doing some other stuff like social networking, watching movies and all. Increased frequency of my Facebook status update and a large number of Tweets from my Twitter account are evidence to this. One thing I have experienced these days is that, more time you spend on social networking sites less social you become in real life. A good social life virtually and a good social life in real are inversely related.

In my last post also I had mentioned that when you are alone and you have plenty of time you think about almost everything. So many thoughts and information revolve in your mind. The basic difference between thoughts and information according to me is, thoughts are your mind’s creation and it comes from you, whereas, information comes from outside the world. It is our mind who converts information in to thoughts after interpreting and analyzing it.

Before writing this post, I was thinking what should be the topic of this post? Should I write about some current political issues or something about movies I have seen recently? Then I decided to write something random to express my thoughts and to play with words. So, it is more like a warm up round before jumping in to some serious writings.

I hope this warm up session will help me to write something more interesting and fruitful. And I would like to continue my writing with some more seriousness.

My 1st so called post

So, here I start my 1st ever blog. It's 22nd January 2012, 5:30 in the morning and the need of this hour is to write some thing.  Just 40 minutes back the idea of writing some thing came in my empty mind while struggling to sleep. Or you can say its just an another attempt to kill time which I have plenty of these days. Otherwise it is never a right age to start blogging. Because, I am too old for amateurs and too young (will be 29 in March as per certificates) for old intellectual bloggers.

In past few weeks I have realised that now-a-days I have plenty of time which I never used to have. And I used to curse my profession for the same. One of the reason might be these days some of my very closed people are either stepping in to married life or have already stepped in. Now I am among very few people who are holding the fort of singles. Trying to enjoy it by cracking jokes on married couples, writing blogs in odd hours, working late and trying hard to impress almost every  single women left on this mother earth. And this blog might also be used for the same purpose after some feedback and suggestions, but that is in later stage.

Another thing I have noticed or have experienced lately that when you have lots of time for yourself, you think of almost every topic in this world like; Why congress is using Priyanka Gandhi in UP elections, does Salman Rushdie's ban indicates democracy of this country , What should be strategy of Indian cricket in 4th Test in Australia, the moments we relished in recent weddings and plans for upcoming ones, the short girl whom I used to like in college, long sports hour in RG Model school and hell lot of different topics. In this course you also think of every possible person of your life, the guy with whom I used to sit in Ganja Chowk, A friend who was lost in 6th grade only, The old man in our neighbourhood who used to smoke in his 80's.

I read some where that an average human experiences 70,000 thoughts a day. I wonder, does this include me? Am I falling under these 70K theory or they are scared of shooting up of this average if they include me? There are so many thoughts crossing mind, now with another pressure to limit it within 70,000 to include yourself among average human being.

Its almost 6:30 and I have successfully killed more than an hour. Sunrise is still pending, seems sun was also busy last night with its 70,000 thoughts and is waking up late. I think, now its time to stop writing. Like other bloggers I really can't promise of next blog. Don't know when the next murderous session will come with an urge to kill the time. Also, since the exposure of this blog will be very less, I would like to accept the fact of my laziness. This blogging thing requires lots of study and hard work which is very tough for my lazy mind. Another task is getting used of this site and thinking of a good name for the blogging. Let's see, how far I can go. Now finally a Good Bye is required.
